Electric-Powered Pole Saws

A pole saw is basically a small chainsaw attached to a long handle used to cut horizontally-growing tree and shrub branches which cannot be cut from the ground using a traditional chainsaw. It can be useful for quick canopy raising, removing low branches which impede truck access, removing deadwood, and maintaining or revising the overall shape of plant life.

Each electric-powered pole saw relies upon batteries, which themselves must be used safely, maintained properly, and inspected before each use.

Basic Safety Information

Read and follow all manufacturer's instructions.

Do not allow familiarity with the tool make you careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is sufficient to inflict serious injury.

Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields when operating power tools. Failure to do so could result in objects being thrown into your eyes, resulting in possible serious injury.

Use extreme caution when cutting small sized brush and saplings because slender material may catch the saw chain and be whipped toward you or pull you off balance.

When cutting a limb that is under tension, be alert for spring back so that you will not be struck when tension in wood fibers are released.

Basic Maintenance

Keep cutting edge sharp and clean for best performance and to reduce the risk of injury.

Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories. The chain oil reservoir doesn't fill itself!

Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease.

Inspection Before Each Use

Check for damaged guards and other parts, verifying that each guard and other part will operate properly and perform its intended function.

Check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any other condition that may affect operation.
